Be careful: Fake SMS messages are currently circulating, attempting to trick you out of your personal information. They appear to be from Samleikin – they are not

Extensive scam attacks are currently raging in the Faroe Islands, so-called 'smishing,' where you receive SMS messages that appear to come from genuine senders. In some cases, it looks as though the messages are from Samleikin. The messages contain a link, and you are asked to click it to update Samleikin.

We wish to point out that these are fake messages intended to steal your password and your access. It is very important that you do not click on unknown links.

Talgildu Føroyar never sends links asking for personal information.

An important part of Samleikin’s security is that Talgildu Føroyar does not send SMS messages containing links where you are required to provide personal information.

What should you do if you are in doubt?

  • If you have already received the message, you should delete it. If you have clicked the link or entered your password, we recommend that you renew Samleikin according to the instructions above.
  • If you suspect that your account information has been misused, you should log into your online bank and block your cards immediately. Call the bank if you see any irregular activity in your online banking.

How to renew Samleikin safely

If it is time for you to renew Samleikin, this should always be done according to the safe advice you already know:

  1. Open the Samleikin app.
  2. Go to settings and select Renew Samleikin.
  3. Follow the instructions there and choose a password that is easy to remember and hard to guess.

Is Samleikin expired?

If Samleikin has expired, you must apply again.

  • You do this by going to settings in the app.
  • Select Delete Samleikin.
  • Then apply for Samleikin again. Remember to have your driver's license or passport with you when you apply.

It takes 1-3 business days before you have Samleikin back on your phone.
